Overview

The Senior Electrical Category Management Professional is responsible for the execution of category strategies for assigned Electrical Equipment related sourcing, execution, and supplier management. These may include Transformers, Switchgear, Motor Control Centers, UPS Systems, Generators, Power Supplies, Switchboards, Panelboards, and related major components/connections of these systems. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide SME level technical and commercial expertise and support to projects and operations in the direct procurement process, whether direct or through subcontractors  
  • Responsible for all activities involved in direct procurement strategies for multiple projects.  
  • Assist projects in completing comprehensive planning engaged in both technical and commercial aspects, draft project specific scopes of work for equipment suppliers and/or manufacturers, ensure prequalification of bidders, RFP/RFQ development. 
  • Lead or assist in commercial and technical bid evaluations, make award recommendations, execute buydown strategies, draft and review purchase orders, and provide post-award administration of select major Electrical packages.  
  • Confirm that the sourcing process meets GBC contract terms and Baseline practices.  
  • Attend coordination meetings, release suppliers to fabrication and monitor delivery, attend factory witness tests and other shop surveillance and inspection activities as appropriate, coordinate delivery activities, verify major package receipts, pre-commissioning meetings and full collaboration with engineering/design parties, supplier, manufacturer, trade contractors, project team, client, jobsite personnel and others as necessary to ensure seamless project execution post-award relative to the major Electrical package 
  • Proactively monitor, report and act to ensure timely equipment delivery. Engage vendor in developing alternative options for management approval to address any delivery slippage. 
  • Provide general technical category support for Business Development, Pre-Construction, Purchasing, estimating, others internally. 
  • Maintain manufacturer, supplier, and trade contractor relationships supported by technical expertise; specifically Electrical. Must be capable of managing and supporting multiple external client transactions and engagements. 
  • Develop and cultivate positive and professional relationships both internally and externally with trade contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders (Preconstruction, Estimating, Purchasing, and Operations) 
  • Provide critical SME input to quarterly company market conditions publication.  
  • Leads and manages several varied projects at one time, with frequently changing priorities.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION 

  • 10-15 years of direct industry experience in engineering, sourcing, supply chain, procurement, or a field related to the essential duties, or equivalent combination of education and experience with Electrical engineering, Electrical contracting, MEP role in construction, and commercial operations. 
  • Bachelor's Degree: Engineering, Supply Chain, or a field related to the essential duties preferred.  
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

  • Candidate should be a team player with exceptional organizational, computer, ethical, and inter-personal skills. 
  • Ability to adapt to a quickly changing work environment with rapidly changing needs and requests. 
  • Ability to make decisions with limited information and operate with autonomy. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiating skills 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point. 

 

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.    


For Providence, RI this ranges from $140,000.00 - $160,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
