  • Overview

    The Purchasing Manager will manage an extensive Contractor Buy-out/Purchasing Process. 

    Responsibilities

    • Develop positive relationships with trade contractors, vendors, jobsite personnel, Gilbane department personnel and other business unit offices
    • Manage the pre-bid and post-bid process with the operations team
    • Write (author) scopes of work and be able to provide constructive feedback to project executives when reviewing their scopes of work
    • Read and understand drawings and specifications
    • Understand and have knowledge of trade jurisdictions (separation of work scopes)
    • Create bid documents, contracts, purchase orders, consultant agreements and amendments
    • Expedite all contract documents sent out for execution
    • Oversee evaluation and approval of subcontractors for optimum quality and value
    • Work with Risk Management Group and Operations Team to ensure compliance with pre-qualification requirements

    Qualifications

    EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 12 years of purchasing or construction experience
    • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook
    • Ability to prepare and interpret specifications, analyze bids, and prepare and maintain procurement records and reports
    • Negotiation/conflict resolution skills
    • Proficient in Public Speaking and ability to lead large meetings with confidence
    • Basic understanding of construction law, contract and risk management
    • Basic understanding of insurance
    • Ability to read construction drawings and understand specifications
