  • Overview

    The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of a construction-management project; as well as mentoring multiple Project Managers and Engineers.  The individual will also serve a business development role to understand future client needs, share client intelligence with Gilbane Federal leaders, and help develop proposals and estimates.

    Responsibilities

    • Be located on site daily and directly manage multiple project superintendents
    • Produce all elements of project execution plan and implement
    • Provide jobsite leadership in the area of safety and quality
    • Maintain satisfactory relationships with owners, subcontractors, unions, etc.

    • Perform pre-construction planning, scheduling and cost control
    • Buy-out of job by determining the sub-contracting strategy for the project and preparing front-end documents and bid processes under various project delivery models
    • Prepare monthly reports including cost, schedule, safety, cash flow, etc. for internal and/or external use
    • Provide jobsite leadership in the area of safety and quality
    • Prepare contingency plans for potential risks, expanding contractual services and project profit

    • Serve as Gilbane point-of-contact for understanding client needs about future construction requirements at the overall facility, and represent Gilbane's interests in showing our capabilities to the client

    • Help develop winning proposals and competitive & accurate estimates for future work

    • Help identify and recruit staff for current and future construction projects 

     

    Qualifications

    EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

     

    • BS OR MS degree in Engineering or Construction Management
    • 10-15 years in the lead role on projects valued at $50-100 million or larger

    • At least 5 years of Department of Energy (US DoE) construction experience highly preferred
    • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

     

    • Strong technical and communication skills are critical
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Knowledge of Primavera Contract Management (preferred)
