Overview

Gilbane Development Company is looking for a Lead Housekeeper to join our growing team in Bowling Green, KY! The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervising all housekeeping staff and the cleaning of the business office, residential units, public and common areas of the property in a neat, clean, and attractive condition. 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train and develop all housekeeping staff
  • Schedules and maintains shift schedules for the team
  • Orders and maintains the inventory needed on-site to perform daily maintenance duties
  • Assists in maintaining a monthly housekeeping budget
  • Enters and gathers data for reporting, relating to the housekeeping operations of the property
  • Responds to emergency housekeeping calls
  • Coordinates work shifts and delegate work to the housekeeping staff, as applicable
  • Evaluates the performance of the housekeeping staff, as applicable
  • Assists in the hiring and training of the necessary personnel for the Housekeeping Departments
  • Supervises and participates in the following housekeeping functions:
    • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways and other work areas so that health standards are met
    • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers
    • Empties wastebaskets, empties and cleans ashtrays, and transports other trash and waste to disposal areas
    • Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and/or polishes floors, using brooms, mops, and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines
    • Dusts and polishes furniture and equipment
    • Keeps storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy
    • Washes windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary
    • Disinfects equipment and supplies, using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers
  • During unit turnover, holds responsibility of the general cleaning of the units to include the appliances, bathrooms, vacuuming, mopping floors, dusting, cleaning counter tops, and all other cleaning services deemed appropriate
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 7 years' minimum experience in a housekeeping/janitorial role
  • Experience supervising, coaching, scheduling, conflict management, etc.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to operate a variety of power cleaning tools and use the appropriate safety techniques
  • General knowledge of common cleaning products and appropriate uses
  • Experience supervising staff of 10 or more team members
  • Basic computer skills

WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently or occasionally required to:

  • Stand, walk, stoop and/or bend for periods of up to eight hours with breaks as provided for in the employee handbook
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance
  • Frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds
