Are you looking for a highly rewarding opportunity that provides extensive career growth opportunity? Next150 Construction is seeking a motivated Construction Superintendent III to lead complex trade scopes or multiple crews within a major project, providing direct field leadership to ensure work is executed in accordance with approved scope, safety requirements, quality standards, and schedule commitments. This role supports self-performance operations while collaborating closely with the Lead Superintendent on jobsite logistics, resource planning, and sequencing, mentoring junior field leaders, workforce coordination, and union engagement while assisting with advanced planning and execution activities. This position also supports the implementation of field technology, sustainability practices, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinates assigned trade contractors, self-performed crews, and field activities to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved scope, schedule, and quality requirements 
  • Develops, documents, and communicates detailed work plans for assigned scopes and ensures compliance with approved work plans and field directives 
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of contract documents, drawings, specifications, and coordination requirements to support effective trade-level planning; verifies that all required permits, inspections, and compliance documentation are in place for assigned work areas 
  • Acts as the primary Next 150 safety representative for assigned scopes, enforces applicable safety policies and procedures, and supports a strong safety-first culture in the field 
  • Oversees quality control for assigned trades, conducts inspections, documents findings, and implements corrective actions to maintain compliance with project and company standards 
  • Leads contractor meetings related to assigned scopes and coordinates activities with field and project leadership 
  • Maintains accurate daily field reports, safety documentation, and production records using Procore and other required systems 
  • Creates and manages trade-level schedules and implements contingency plans to maintain commitments and mitigate impacts; communicates schedule status, constraints, and updates to the applicable team 
  • Plans and manages jobsite logistics for assigned scopes, including access, material flow, temporary facilities, and sequencing 
  • Assists in resolving jurisdictional disputes and field-level conflicts within assigned scopes 
  • Tracks production, labor hours, and productivity metrics, and reports variances to field leadership 
  • Executes self-perform operations for assigned scopes, including workforce planning and quantification of labor, materials, and equipment needs 
  • Assists with forecasting and cost-of-work projections for assigned scopes 
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced team members; trains team members to help support skill development and consistent execution 
  • Supports a positive and inclusive work environment 
  • Supports sustainability initiatives and environmental compliance requirements within assigned scopes 
  • Collaborates with the Lead Superintendent on advanced planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement initiatives 

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management 
  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience in a superintendent role on construction projects 
  • OSHA 30 hour certified 
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong technical and communication skills  
  • Excellent organizational skills  
  • Ability to work in a team environment  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, safety and site operations software, project management software, and construction management software 
  • Knowledge of construction-documenting and drawing, with knowledge of all phases of construction  
  • Knowledge in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling and cost control  
  • Ability to create a “safety first” environment by showing a commitment to Zero Injury principles and sustainability practices 
  • Strong union and non-union engagement and labor relations 

 

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.

For Chicago, IL, this ranges from $104,000 - $144,760 plus benefits and retirement program.
