Overview

Next 150 Construction, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gilbane Building Company, is seeking a Scaffold Manager.  As a strategic leader within Next 150 Construction, the Scaffold Manager is responsible for launching and managing scaffold operations nationwide. This role will lead our transition from subcontracted to self-perform work, build operational systems, drive estimating standards, and own all aspects of scaffold safety and field execution. This role will shape the long-term success of scaffold work as a core self-perform capability for Next 150 Construction.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all scaffold operations throughout the country, ensuring that each project is executed efficiently and meets all standards for safety and quality.
  • Strategize and implement process improvements for estimating, planning, and execution of scaffold work to increase the quality of these operations without compromising on financial targets.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating favorable terms for Next 150 regarding cost and service reliability to reduce the dependency on subcontractors over time.
  • Partner with internal and external stake holders to establish key performance indicators for the scaffold operations, taking corrective action when necessary to ensure compliance.
  • Analyze market trends and adjust strategies accordingly to ensure Next 150 remains competitive in this space.
  • Collaborate with Next 150 Safety to develop and execute on scaffold safety programs, field training programs, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the field leadership hiring, crew onboarding, and upskilling programs as we scale.
  • Support preconstruction efforts by contributing scaffold-related input to project bids and logistics plans.
  • Field supervision for the erection and dismantling in certain key scenarios (but not limited to) – large projects, complex work, sensitive installations, etc.
  • Deliver technical and business presentations to both internal teams and external clients to support scaffolding initiatives and promote business development.
  • Build and maintain estimating and production tracking systems for scaffold operations.
  • Assist with the Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) process to procure equipment, as necessary.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement plan by identifying opportunities in the current process, reviewing suggested improvements, and presenting corrective action plan to leadership.
  • Review and identify opportunities to expand on business offerings and execute the rollout/implementation process.
  • Participate in and help support safety activities and trainings.
  • All other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in scaffold operations, construction, or related field
    • 3+ years of experience managing or supervising scaffold operations (required)
  • Experience building and/or managing a self-perform program (preferred)
  • Experience with project planning, safety plans, directing work, and estimating
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid and current certifications:
    • Certified Scaffold Competent Person (required)
    • Certified Scaffold Builder
    • Certified Scaffold Inspector

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.

The pay ranges from $108,000.00-$190,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
