Overview

As a member of the broader Information Technology (IT) organization within Gilbane, the IT Director is responsible for overseeing the technology and digital direction of the Gilbane Development Company (GDCo), ensuring the alignment of IT strategies with business goals. This role involves managing the IT department, developing and implementing IT policies and products, and ensuring the security and efficiency of IT infrastructure. The IT Director will work closely with senior management (both within the Business and IT organizations) to identify and implement technology solutions that drive business growth, value and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

 

    • Develop and implement IT strategies that align with the company’s business objectives
    • Lead the IT department (currently 2 direct reports and several vendors), providing direction, mentorship, and support to staff
    • Collaborate with senior management to identify technology needs and opportunities for optimization as well as innovation
    • Oversee the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures
    • Lead and manage IT projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget
    • Coordinate with various departments to understand their IT needs and provide appropriate solutions
    • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to senior management
    • Manage a product portfolio focused on organizational fit, evolution and vendor relationship management
    • Develop and manage the IT department’s budget
    • Monitor and control IT expenditures to ensure cost-effective use of resources
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of IT systems and product management best practices
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and project/product management
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to manage budgets and financial planning familiarity

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cloud computing and virtualization technologies
  • Business Intelligence and modern data architecture familiarity
  • Cyber and Enterprise Architecture familiarity
  • Knowledge of industry-specific software and applications
  • Certification in IT management (e.g., ITIL, PMP, SAFe, TOGAF, etc.).

 

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.    
For Providence, RI this ranges from $160,000.00 - $219,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
For Boston, MA and Arlington, VA this ranges from $178,000.00-$244,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
